India, the next stage...

Tuesday has given us a day of excitement and intrigue in Year 2. We started the day this morning with a visit from Mrs Sookarry; she talked to us about Hindu celebrations, customs and food. We were really lucky because she had cooked for us, we sampled her food and it was DELICIOUS!

After playtime we went and did two activities; the first was P.E with an Indian theme. We tried 3 different sports! The second activity was art and R.E. We learnt about Rangoli Patterns. A Rangoli Pattern is usually outside of the entrance to a house. It is usually drawn or made during the festival of Diwali. A Rangoli Pattern is a 'welcome'.  Have a look at some of our beautiful patterns.

We used coloured rice to create Rangoli Patterns.

We used chalks to make Rangoli Patterns outside on the playground to welcome people in.

We also used beads to create Rangoli Patterns (this was very fiddly!)
