Using a thesaurus

We are reading a story called "Slowly, Slowly, Slowly" Said the Sloth by Eric Carle.  It is set in the Amazon Rainforest and there are lots of different animals in it, some that we had never even heard of!  We are learning about another continent, South America,  so we found the Amazon on the atlas.

In this story there are lots of adjectives used for 'slow' so we chose another animal to describe and then used a thesaurus to find out more words.  Our favourites included nippy, swift, muscular, solid, attractive and  ferocious.  We borrowed some thesaurus' from Year 3 as ours were not very helpful; Miss Johnston thought they would be difficult to use but we managed well, using the alphabet to help us locate words.
